A woman and her son from Heartland Vineyard Church walked by the toy aisle at Meijer.  They passed a young man looking at the toys.  As she passed, she had a thought from the Holy Spirit, “He’s seeking me.”  The woman thought, “It’s just me thinking,” and continued walking.  The man crossed in front of her, and she had the same thought, “He’s seeking me.”

She paused and approached him gently saying, “Excuse me. You don’t know me, but I am a follower of Jesus Christ.  I think he spoke to me and said about you, ‘He’s seeking me.’  I couldn’t keep walking because I think God wants your attention.  Does that phrase mean anything to you?”

He shook his head up and down and tried to hesitantly say something in English.  The woman asked him if he spoke Spanish, which he did.  She explained again in Spanish.

The young man said his friend gave him a Bible a few weeks ago and since then has been asking God for protection.  The woman asked him if he had an actual relationship with Jesus Christ.  The man said he believes praying is good enough.

The woman said, “You see my son here.  He belongs to me.  I have good friends that love him too, but my love for him is different because he belongs to me.  He came from me.  It’s a different kind of relationship when you know that child belongs to you.  He is not just a kid.  He’s my kid!  Same with God.”

The woman explained that Jesus creates a way so we can be God’s kid.  She asked the man if he ever confessed with his mouth and believed in his heart that Jesus Christ is Lord and asked for forgiveness of the wrongs he had done.  The man said, “No.”  She asked him is he would like to pray that way.  He said, “Yes!”

She led him in how to pray and asked him to receive the Holy Spirit, so he can have power to live a life for Christ.  He did.  As she prayed, his body responded to the presence of the power of the Holy Spirit with trembling hands that grew hot.  She then prayed a prayer of blessing over him.  She gave him the phone numbers for two area Spanish speaking Christian churches.*  She asked if she could give him a hug.  He did gladly with many thanks!
